I also differentiate teaching and learning activities to suit individual students. An example of this is in literacy groups where students are grouped with students who have a similar reading level. During these lessons’ students work on activities aimed at their literacy level while small groups work on the floor with me for an explicit reading lesson. During the explicit reading lessons the instruction is targeted at their needs. For example, my lowest groups are on level 1 and 2 readers. With this group I do a lot of work on predicting from the pictures and using the sounds and blending to decode words. |
